Old China Hand in Clerkenwell Sold Following 20 Years of Ownership

The Old China Hand, a Grade II listed pub in Clerkenwell, London, has been sold on a freehold basis by AG&G, acting on behalf of retiring owners Mike Peck and Rowena Smith.

Located at 8 Tysoe Street, just metres from the popular Exmouth Market, the historic pub has been owned and operated by Mike Peck and Rowena Smith for approximately 20 years.

The property has been acquired by Pete Holt, who operates a number of other pubs across London including Howling Hops Brewery in Hackney Wick. The sale represents a retirement disposal for the outgoing owners, bringing their two-decade tenure at this well-located Clerkenwell pub to a close.

Originally constructed circa 1856, the three-storey pub retains considerable period character and occupies a prominent position within one of central London’s most established food and drink destinations.

Michael Penfold of AG&G acted on behalf of the vendors in the freehold sale.
