Camden pub to sail on with award-winning operators
Acting on behalf of Camden Town Brewery, leading property advisor AG&G has sold the former Camden’s Daughter pub to award-winning publicans Paul Davies and Kirk McGrath.
The new business will be renamed the Lady Hamilton, after Admiral Nelson’s mistress, and will reopen after a refit. The pub is also set to offer speciality bao buns after agreeing to work with the Spitalfields-based Yuu Kitchen.
Davies and McGrath also currently operate the nearby Pineapple pub in Kentish Town. They also have the Railway Tavern in Dalston and Tapping the Admiral in Kentish Town
Their new pub occupies a prominent corner property on Kentish Town Road, within 150m of Kentish Town rail / tube station. It is held on a 20-year lease expiring in February 2035, with a passing rent of £90,000 per annum (free of all ties) for the whole building.
Camden Town Brewery chief executive Jasper Cuppaidge told local newspaper, the New Journal that the company had originally taken on the pub when they needed extra space and it had worked well in showcasing its beer on the ground floor and offices upstairs. But after taking on extra railway arches at their base in Wilkin Street, they now wanted to pass the pub on. He said: “We have taken on more arches at our original home. We felt it was time to let it go. It was perfect to be able to hand it on to such celebrated legends in the locality.”
AG&G Director, Michael Penfold said “It was a pleasure to work with all of parties involved in the deal. The pub has found a good new home in the hands of Paul and Kirk. I look forward to seeing the pub reopen under their stewardship.”
