Wanted – fearless property developers

Developers who are not afraid of stirring up a few ghosts are being invited to consider the possibilities presented by the Masons Arms in St Mary’s Lane, Upminster.

The property, which includes parking for around 40 cars, was recently the subject of an investigation by a team researching paranormal activity. They used specialist recording equipment to check out reports of mysterious goings-on at the pub and claimed to have had several positive readings.

“The Masons Arms is an old building so it wouldn’t be surprising if it has a few ghosts. But that isn’t likely to frighten off potential buyers,” says Panayiotis Themistocli of licensed leisure specialists AG&G, which is handling the sale.

“The property is in a prime location close to the town centre and has a total site area of approximately 0.44 acres, so it has lots of potential. A plot nearby was used to develop six detached houses and we believe this site offers scope for a similar range of high-specification homes.”

It is estimated that there is room for up to eight houses, each with garden, garage and off-road parking for two or three vehicles, subject to planning permission.

The guide price for the Masons Arms is £750,000.
