Spurs sign up bar for £850,000

Soccer is more than a game, they say. It certainly is when it concerns Tottenham Hotspurs Football Club, who have just added Bar Latina – a short walk from White Hart Lane – to their property portfolio in a deal handled by licensed leisure specialists AG&G.

There was spirited competition for the premises, which helps to explain the final selling price of £850,000, off an original asking price of £625,000. Spurs have bought the building as an investment, part of their strategy to invest in property surrounding their stadium. A well known retailer is lined up to lease the 4,000 square foot trading floor. There is also a manager’s flat with four bedrooms on the first floor and two more floors of accommodation on long leases.

Bar Latina, on Tottenham High Road, was perhaps best known in the 80s, when glamour model and pop singer Sam Fox owned it as Sam’s Bar.

“It’s had a number of owners since then but now its future is secure,” says AG&G director James Grimes. “There was a lot if interest in the building and its selling price reflects its true value.”
